Pepper Savings Bank in the professional volleyball V-League and coach Joe Trinzee’s accompanying team did not last more than a year in the end.

An official at Pepper Savings Bank said on Sunday, “Tringe has joined the team. An announcement will be made after administrative procedures regarding termination of the contract are completed,” adding, “Coach Lee Kyung-soo will serve as acting coach for the rest of the season.” Lee will serve as acting coach for the second consecutive season following last season, and lead the remaining games of the regular season.

Pepper Savings Bank currently ranks among the lowest in the women’s league with three wins and 28 losses (10 points). It joined the women’s team of the V-League in the 2021-2022 season and ranked the lowest for three consecutive seasons early on. It recruited Park Jeong-ah, a national striker who was the biggest free agent before the season opened, and also nominated Yasmin, a resource proven in the foreign player draft, but lost 23 consecutive games, a new record for the women’s team of the V-League.

Recently, players within the team were referred to the Korea Volleyball Federation (KOVO) for reward and punishment due to bullying within the team. “The issue of bullying within the team is not directly related to the coach’s breakup. Trinjee took the helm of Pepper Savings Bank after Aachen Kim left the bank unexpectedly in June last year. He was an analyst and served as a coach and leader in North America. He helped the U.S. win the World Volleyball Championship in 2014, rank No. 1 in World Grand Prix in 2015, and win a bronze medal at the 2016 Olympics, and participated in the North-Central and American Caribbean Women’s Championship as the coach of the U.S. national team in 2021. He also coached for the Canadian women’s team in 2019 and the Canadian men’s team in 2022.
