‘Henna’ Park “Cogmo, I felt like I would regret it if I didn’t finish”
“This will be one of the most memorable days of the year,” said OK Savings Bank’s Brion “Henna” Park, who pulled off the “biggest upset of the season” against Genji.
OK Savings Bank defeated Genji 2-0 in the final match of the 2023 LoL Champions Korea (LCK) Summer Season regular season on Friday at the LCK Arena in Jongno-gu, Seoul. With their elimination from the playoffs already confirmed, the team defeated the No. 1 seed. The team finished the Summer Season with a record of 5 wins, 13 losses (-15).
“I think this will be the most memorable game we’ve played this year,” Park said after the game. “I think it was important that the players played with a relaxed mindset,” he said. “The practice atmosphere was also good because the pressure was off, and we were able to practice in a relaxed atmosphere and win the game.”
He also said the team was encouraged by Choi’s stinging criticism in the previous scrimmage. “Yesterday was the last scrimmage of the season, so we were all relaxed. We made a lot of mistakes and played less well than usual,” he said, adding, “The coach corrected us one more time, and we were able to regain our momentum.”
He said that he prepared for the match by focusing on lineup and concentration as keywords for Zenji. “When facing a strong team, not just Genji, it’s important not to lose the lineup,” Park said. “In fact, even if you don’t lose the lineup, it’s already a half-and-half game. The moment we lose our focus in the middle, we lose the lead, so we tried to stay focused until the end.”
“He’s my favorite champion, and I prepared hard,” he said of his choice of Cogmo for the second set. “I practiced a lot with Cogmo, and I thought I would regret it if I didn’t pull it out until the end of the season, so I decided to use it at least once, regardless of the combination.”
“If I could go back a few weeks, I would have taken out Cogmo earlier,” Park said. “Recently, when we played against lower-ranked teams, the coach suggested Cogmo. I wasn’t convinced, so I switched to another pick,” he said, adding, “He was disappointed. I apologize to the coach.”
Although he finished his last match of the season today, he vowed to work on his solo ranking and health for next year. “I’m older than 바카라 the other players,” he said. At the end of the season, I sometimes feel tired from practicing in the early morning,” he said, adding, “I will try to improve my solo ranking and health during the offseason.”
“I’ve been playing the LCK for three years now, and I always feel similar emotions at this time of year,” Park said. “I’m always sad to see it end, but looking back, I have good memories. I wish all the players I played with this year all the best for next year,” he said. “We’re sad right now, but we’ll work hard in the offseason so we can smile next year,” he added.
