Busan KCC, which has made a turnaround in the playoffs, defeated Wonju DB, the No. 1 team in the regular season.

KCC defeated DB 95-83 in the first round of the 2023-2024 Jeonggwanjang Professional Basketball League quarterfinals playoffs at the Wonju General Gymnasium on Friday.

KCC, which was considered a strong favorite to win the championship this season with a spectacular lineup but only finished fifth in the regular season, defeated No. 4 Seoul SK in the best-of-six playoffs in three games. The team was not at full strength due to rotating injuries throughout the season, but they returned to their normal lineup and played a full game in the quarterfinals.

In the quarterfinals, they faced DB, who had won the regular season ‘wire-to-wire’. KCC lost to DB 1-5 in the regular season. However, in their first meeting in the quarterfinals playoffs, they rebounded with a 12-point victory.

Never before has the fifth-place team in the regular season reached the championship game, but KCC made history by taking the first game. In the 52 best-of-five playoffs, the winner of the first game has reached the championship 41 times, a 78.8 percent chance.

Lagana and Song Kyo-chang exploded. Ragan added 34 points and 19 rebounds, while Song added 22 points, seven rebounds, four assists, two steals, and one block, including three three-pointers. KCC also got 15 points from Choi Jun-yong with three three-pointers and 13 points from Heo Woong as the super team members dominated the game.
