Tuchel ‘crosses the line’…brazenly responds to successor question with

Bayern Munich coach Thomas Tuchel exploded during a press conference after a reporter crossed the line.

“Tuchel swore at a reporter who asked him about his potential replacement,” the Daily Mail reported on Saturday (Aug. 16), adding that the German coach lost his temper after being asked about Stuttgart coach Sebastian Hoeneß.

A German sports show also described the situation, saying that “Tuchel reprimanded reporters after being asked a strange question during the press conference” and that he appeared to be in a bad mood.

Munich will host Stuttgart in the 15th round of the 2023/24 Bundesliga at the Allianz Arena in Munich, Germany, at 3:30 a.m. on April 18.

According to the outlet, Tuchel showed his displeasure during a pre-match press conference when he was asked about Hoeneß, who has led Stuttgart to third place in the league with 10 wins, 1 draw and 3 losses.

“No, I’m here now, do you seriously think I’m going to talk about my successor in this position,” Tuchel retorted, “I’m the coach of Munich now. Who knows how long I’ll be here, it doesn’t matter what I’m imagining. The way Stuttgart are playing is impressive and characteristic of Jupp Heynckes and his coaching staff.”

Since taking over in April, Hoeneß has played an attacking style of soccer that has produced more than two goals per game. This season, they are in third place behind unbeaten leaders Bayer Leverkusen and second-place Munich. Only one point separates them from Munich. If they can beat the Bavarians in this matchup, they can knock them off their perch and move into second place.

Tuchel, who has come under fire in the media following his side’s recent 1-5 defeat to Eintracht Frankfurt, did not hide his displeasure when asked if Hoeneß, who has been in excellent form at Stuttgart this season, could be his replacement.

Hoeness is also the nephew of Munich president Uli Hoeness. “I have nothing to do with the family confrontation,” said Tuchel, adding, “As always, we will try to play the way that will make Uli Hoeneß happy. We know the importance of this match. It’s not the season finale yet. I want to show the reaction of the players after the defeat in Frankfurt. It will be a big challenge for us and it will be almost impossible to play at a higher level,” he said, predicting a difficult match.

This is not the first time Tuchel has lost his temper during an interview. Last month, when club legend Lothar Matthäus criticized the team’s performance in a big win over Borussia Dortmund, Tuchel responded, “You can say what you want to say. I don’t want to be part of this conversation. We won 4-0. It’s time to change the attitude and enjoy it. Have a good time,” and threw the microphone away.

Meanwhile, Höynes vowed to get the win against Munich. “I didn’t know I was on the radar of Munich. “I just want to wish him and Munich the best,” he said, adding that he hadn’t spoken to his uncle. But it’s not going to happen in this match. We will go to Munich with a good feeling.”
