Minister Yoo In-chon Visits MMC Ahead of Gangwon 2024 Opening

Culture, Sports and Tourism Minister Yoo In-chon visited the main media center (MMC) on the 19th on the day of the opening of the 2024 Gangwon Winter Youth Olympics (Gangwon 2024) to encourage domestic and foreign reporters.

Minister Yoo visited the MMC set up at the Green City Experience Center in Gangneung, Gangwon Province, later in the day to inspect the main press area and the International Broadcasting Center (IBC).

Minister Yoo said, “We will do our best to ensure that the Youth Olympics end safely as a festival and education center where teenagers around the world challenge, venture, and share friendships. I hope that foreign and foreign journalists will convey the hard work of the athletes, the beauty of Gangwon, and the heartfelt affection of the Republic of Korea to the world.”

He also announced a plan to promote K-culture to the world during the event. “We have prepared various performances by national art groups during the event,” Yoo said. “We have prepared various performances ranging from traditional art stages such as ballet and opera to modern dance and K-pop.”

Regarding countermeasures against weather conditions such as cold waves, he said, “We have provided heating facilities such as heating tents in snow sports stadiums so that athletes and audiences can avoid the cold,” adding, “We will not have to worry about snow removal measures in advance.”

He also gave words of encouragement to the volunteers stationed at the MMC. “Please do your best to make sure that Gangwon 2024 ends in a good way and has a good result,” Yoo said.

Meanwhile, Yoo visited Gangneung Ice Arena in the morning to encourage short-track speed skaters. Yoo also plans to visit Ice Arena on Tuesday to watch men’s and women’s 1,500-meter races. 토토
