Liverpool Quivin Kelleher led Liverpool to the championship.

Liverpool won the 2023/24 Carabao Cup (EFL Cup) final at Wembley Stadium in London, England, on the 26th, beating Chelsea 1-0 after extra time.

Virgil van Dijk scored the winning goal on the day, but Keleher was the biggest contributor to the victory. Keleher is a goalkeeper who grew up in Liverpool Academy. In recognition of his potential, he entered the first division from the 2018/19 season. However, he did not receive many opportunities. There was Alisson Becker who is considered one of the best goalkeepers in the world in Liverpool.

For the past seven years, Keleher only played in 36 matches. He also wore the uniform number 62 instead of the number 1 that symbolizes the starting goalkeeper. Still, he received more opportunities this season than before. As the starting goalkeeper Alisson was out of the team due to a minor injury, Keleher played in a total of 15 matches including the English Premier League, UEFA Europa League, and EFL Cup.

Ahead of the final of the EFL Cup, Alisson had a hamstring injury. Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp chose Keleher, who had consistently played in the EFL Cup, as the starting goalkeeper in place of Alisson. And Keleher fully met Klopp’s expectations.

The first half of the game began. In the 20th minute of the first half, Chris Potter Nkunku’s touch hit Conor Bradley’s body and connected to Cole Palmer. Palmer attempted a powerful shot, but Keleher blew his body to block it.

The same was true of the second half. Connor Gallagher had a one-on-one chance on Palmer’s pass in the 40th minute, but Keleher defended Gallagher’s shot perfectly.

Keleher shone in the extra time. Palmer’s shot was blocked in the second half of the extra time with his foot in the second minute. He even blocked Nkunku’s shot in the ensuing chaos.

No goals were scored during the regular session, and the game was decided in overtime. Keleher did not allow the goal. He hit a mid-range shot by Noni Madueke at six minutes in the second half of overtime.

Palmer hit a surprise mid-range shot in the 11th minute of the second half of extra time, but Keleher caught it lightly. Liverpool won its 10th EFL Cup with Keleher’s good defense and Virgil van Dijk’s dramatic winning goal. 스포츠토토

According to soccer statistics magazine Football Mob, Keleher recorded nine saves, two diving saves, and six saves within the box during the 120-minute period. Giving Keleher an eight-point rating, the soccer news outlet Goal Dotcom said, He brilliantly blocked Palmer’s shot from a long distance. He also blocked Gallagher’s shot quickly. He displayed impressive play.

Liverpool’s Superman flew away as soon as he was called to. Starting with the world’s best defense that blocked Palmer’s shot right in front of the goal, he made the best block in front of Gallagher’s feet, said Sky Sports, a sports media outlet.
