Las Vegas Sands Tosses Into New York Casino Competition

Las Vegas Sands, the world’s most valuable integrated resort company, today announced its intention to develop billions of dollars worth of leading hospitality, entertainment, and casino projects on New York’s Long Island, with the New York State Gaming Commission recently requesting three gaming licenses from downtown New York.

The company has signed a long-term lease on the site, which currently houses the Nassau Veterans Memorial. The deal, which still requires certain approvals, gives the company control of up to 80 acres in Nassau County, New York.

“Our company’s track record of bringing significant economic benefits to the communities we operate in, and the meaningful relationships and partnerships we have created in each community, provide a unique perspective on what it takes to develop innovative tourist destinations that positively impact the community,” said Robert G. Goldstein, the company’s president and CEO. “Based on that experience, we firmly believe that Long Island can be home to the development of great entertainment and hospitality in the region. Our announcement today is only the first part of this journey. Our ability to present compelling and competitive proposals will only succeed if we work with the Long Island community and develop proposals that reflect the opinions of all those involved.”

The integrated resort components of the Long Island development will include outdoor community spaces, four- and five-star hotel rooms, and a global live venue honoring the Nassau Coliseum’s long-standing legacy of live music. Resort accommodations will also include celebrity chef restaurants, experience events and venues, and flexible meeting and convention spaces, including ballrooms. Other amenities will include high-quality casino games, luxurious day spas, swimming pools and health clubs, and a variety of other entertainment programming planned to represent less than 10% of the total square foot of the project. 슬롯사이트 순위

Building on years of community outreach in the field by RXR Realty, Sands will work with the local Long Island community to collaborate on development initiatives and bids that will help new integrated entertainment and hospitality resorts maximize economic opportunities, build stronger communities, and protect the quality of life for all Long Islanders. Sands will reactivate various work groups previously established by RXR to identify goals and opportunities for local residents.

“After nearly two decades of trying to transform the Nassau Coliseum site, including countless hours of meetings with thousands of community members, the message became overwhelmingly clear that the people of Long Island wanted a world-renowned entertainment destination at the Nassau hub that created well-paying jobs and new opportunities,” said Scott Lecler, CEO and president of RXR. “But the challenge to make this vision a reality has always been the commercial viability of a site plagued by a half-century-old stadium that has become all but obsolete. The plan Sands envisioned is a once-in-a-generation opportunity to create the world-famous entertainment and hospitality destination that Long Islanders are looking for.”

Goldstein added, “Our proposed project is designed to generate tens of millions of dollars in annual tax revenue for the community, potentially providing property tax relief for residents. The project will also provide a boost to local businesses through strong procurement programs and support a wide range of community organizations and causes.”

The project will also provide thousands of quality union jobs in both construction and operation.

“Long Island has always attracted entrepreneurial businesses, and in this case, it will create a whole new industry for the region,” Goldstein said. “The breadth and depth of job opportunities created from this development, including many with no prior experience or minimal educational requirements, are unlikely to match any other proposal the state receives. We will offer an extensive range of career paths and professional development and training programs working in partnership with trade schools, local universities, local universities, and other organizations. Career development will be possible and a priority for all of our team members.”

“I’ll always consider Hempstead my home, so I’m very proud to be the leader of this great community in this transformative project,” said David Paterson, former Governor and Senior Vice President of New York and Sands. “We are committed to providing an understanding of the opportunity for small businesses to thrive, a diverse career path for local residents, innovative approaches for minority and female-owned businesses, thousands of union jobs, and our obligation to collaborate and communicate our vision for the future.”

Gov. Paterson added, “Our diversity and inclusion strategy will create an environment of cooperation and economic equity. Our goal is to ensure that our supply chains are met by locally based small businesses, minority-owned, female-owned and veteran and disabled entrepreneurs so that communities around us are central and fully involved in the success of this project.”

Through Sands ECO360, the company’s well-established and industry-leading environmental sustainability program, the Long Island development will also leverage state-of-the-art sustainable building and operational practices. The company will seek guidance from environmental leaders in Long Island on its ambitions to achieve LEED certification and its goal of being the “greenest” building on the island.

Sands is also committed to creating unique Long Island development through investments in existing community and cultural projects and organizations, and partnerships with local celebrities and sports teams. The project will also honor the region’s legacy as a veteran memorial and pay tribute to Long Island’s beloved military service community, past and present.

“The entire Sands team is excited about the opportunity to help realize this vision, and we are ready to work seriously and transparently with the community in an effort to bring exciting new industries to Long Island,” Goldstein said.
