Korea’s Paradise Group announces major expansion plans for travel and casino sector

With a focus on attracting international visitors, Paradise Group plans to revolutionize the customer experience by introducing innovative travel products and enhancing casino services. The hotel operator revealed its plans on Tuesday, aiming to move beyond traditional services to meet the evolving trend of customers seeking an increasingly unique and diverse experience.

Integrated Resorts and Games Acceptance:

Paradise Group has been actively involved in the integrated business of resorts, hotels, games, travel, and leisure since 1972. This year marked a significant milestone in the hospitality industry, poised to pursue a growth strategy through the Beyond No. 1, Paradise Value Up Project.

By focusing on casinos, hotels, and complex resorts, the group plans to expand its influence among major tourism companies to establish itself as a top creator of special experiences. The plan includes a strong push into the luxury hotel market and accelerating its presence in the casino industry.

Paradise Group announced a strategic plan to tap into the Chinese market in anticipation of a gradual recovery in post-COVID, according to The Korea Times. The group sees the market as a key driver for future revenue growth.

The COVID-19 pandemic has acted as a significant challenge for Paradise Group, with about 85% of its revenue coming from its foreigner-only casino business. The pandemic has led to a sharp decline in room occupancy, dropping to 5%. However, the company has used the period to restructure and update its internal systems for the post-pandemic period.

“Our efforts paid off remarkably last year, as we bounced back stronger than ever,” said Choi Jong-hwan, CEO of Paradise Group. The company reported revenue of W1.4041 trillion (US$749.2 million) and a profit of W188.1 billion, beating pre-pandemic figures.

In September, Paradise Casino Walkerhill will open a new space optimized for VIP-only high roller games with a size of 383.31 square meters. The group also plans to develop a variety of travel products and hold K-culture events to enhance its service to attract Chinese tourists.

Building a new luxury hotel in Seoul to expand significantly:

Scheduled to open in 2028 in Jangchung-dong, Jung-gu, the new hotel will feature about 200 full suite rooms with 23 floors. At a press conference in Paradise City on Tuesday, Choi shared details of the project, saying the groundbreaking is expected in the fourth quarter of this year.

“We expect to elevate the bar of high-end hotels in Seoul with high-end services and facilities that do not exist in Korea yet,” Choi said, according to The Korea Joongang Daily. “With 50 years of know-how we have accumulated in the industry, we will launch iconic properties that surpass all five stars in central Seoul and be known as the best luxury hotel brand in Korea.”

In addition to the new luxury hotels, Paradise Group has several projects scheduled. These include opening a lounge at the arrival hall of Gimpo International Airport by September and launching a new brand campaign later this month. These initiatives are part of the company’s broader strategy to strengthen its market presence and provide superior service.
