Kansas Speedway, still taking casino offers
Kansas Entertainment (a partnership between Kansas Speedway and Cordish Co.) withdrew its application hours after it received the necessary final approval from the Kansas Gaming Commission. At the time, there was much speculation about whether Kansas would be able to secure a casino, as Kansas Entertainment was the last to pull out without leaving a casino development contender.
The casino will be built overlooking Track 2 as part of a $680 million entertainment destination center to include a 100,000 sq ft gaming floor, bar, dining and other entertainment facilities. Ultimately, the plan will include a hotel, spa, convention center, and retail district.
The proposal has the same scope before it was withdrawn and overall, but plans to develop the resort in phases that can operate more effectively in the current credit market.
“We’re not going to scale back,” said Speedway President Jeff Boerger. “The only difference from our proposal is that we’re going to phase it in. We’re doing casinos first, and hotels, conference spaces, and entertainment will be provided after all financial markets have turned around.”
Part of the proposal includes a petition by Speedway’s parent company, International Speedway Corp., to NASCAR to add a second Sprint Cup race to the track. It will also petition Grand Arm Road Racing to allow some sports car races to Speedway. 프라그마틱 슬롯 사이트
